In an ever-increasingly corporation-filled America, the majority of Americans spend their days surrounded by four cubicle walls and stifled by a little mentality I like to call "The World of Beige." Fluorescent lights turn your skin a lovely shade of green, no matter the time of year, and a thin carpet in a putrid shade of brown/gray/"insert other blech carpet color here" is snagged oh-so-easily by even a dropped paper clip or stray high heel. American office spaces are in need of a makeover.
But take a look at this. The new design studio for Kanner
Architects, located in Santa Monica, Calif., brings a captivating ceiling treatment, underlit floor panel, modern furniture and simplistic accents together into one ball of creative energy. Stark whites are softened with natural wood accents and organic shapping, and brought to life with exotic plants and flower arrangements. There's even a garage door feature so the designers can take in some fresh air on sunny Santa
Monica afternoons.
And it's easy to see that the designers and architects at
Kanner have enjoyed the space thus far--the firm just released photos of a new Anne Geddes store they've designed, and the retail environment fits the simplistic elegance of the designers' home.
