I was rudely woken up the other morning by what I assumed was some crazy rifling through my recycling. As glass and metal rattled around, I couldn’t help but wonder what said individual was going to do with the recycled goods (especially at such an early hour!).
I think I found my answer with the announcement of ‘g’ Green Design Center’s ReMade art exhibit – opening up this coming Saturday, Oct. 23 at the Green Design Center in the North Market of Mashpee Commons in Cape Cod.
ReMade will feature artists who have incorporated recycled materials into their collages, sculptures, paintings and constructions. In fact, it may include the very “crazies” that go through recycling bins. And we thought they were just looking for cans and bottles…
Selected artists include Kevin King, James Musto, Maureen O’Sullivan, Linda Steele, Skip Treglia and Tiffany VanMooy. Artwork will be on sale, with 60 percent going to the artists and the rest donated to the ‘g’ Foundation – an environmental education and community-based renewable energy projects organization.
Learning about this has all been very enlightening for me. I won’t be so quick to curse the dude rummaging through my recycling bins – he may be a burgeoning artist!
In the meantime, check out the ReMade show and report back here on your findings. Know other creative ways folks are using recycled goods? Leave your comments here!

P.S. The photos above are actual recycled artwork that will be featured at ReMade. So cool!
