It was early on a Saturday morning as we all stood outside of the Tillamook, Ore. J.C. Penney’s, peering in and waiting for the doors to open. We huddled within inches of one another, not for warmth, but to be closer to the door that would soon open and release us into clearance heaven.
No, I’m not talking about Black Friday.
I’m talking about after-Christmas clearance sales.
Growing up, we didn’t celebrate holidays, so our real holiday began on December 26th. Since then, I’ve clamored to retailers on the 26th only to 1) return something or 2) grab a mocha and some Christmas gear I was sure I would need for the following year.
What about you?
Well, you may or may not know this, but the day-after Christmas sales can result in some of the best pricing and deals all year long. Overstocked items can go for as much as 60 percent below standard pricing and Christmas décor items are ridiculously inexpensive. All major retailers typically have great after-holiday options – so watch Target, Wal-Mart, Kohl’s, Sears, Macy’s and the like.
And if you can drag yourself from your cozy home and into a cozy huddle outdoors – you won’t be disappointed.
Tell us about your after-holiday sales celebrations here!

Gina,
Sorry for any confusion - it was definitely NOT taken in Tillamook, Ore. I grew up there and they don't even have a mall!
Thanks for clarifying for readers.
Warmly,
Heather :)

That picture may be misleading to some readers. It looks like it was taken at the Landmark, Central, an luxury mall in HK.
Not Tilamook, Oregon.
